THE ROBOT REFEREE WILL BE USED IN THE WORLD CUP, BEING TESTED ALONGSIDE IN THE CLUB WORLD CUP

Chelsea are set to become the first English club to experience testing a

new 'robot referee' technology to be used in this year's World Cup in Qatar. The new limb-tracking technology is said to detect offside faster than video assistant referees (VARs).

This robot can detect if it is offside within 30 seconds. Following the successful testing of the technology in the current Arab Cup, FIFA plans to use it in the World Cup in Qatar this November.

This technology is also being used as a test in the Club World Cup starting from Thursday. In which Chelsea will be the first English club to play in this technology. This semi-automatic decision-making system will monitor the movement of players and the ball using 12 cameras from the top of the stadium. If a player is offside, the tracking system sends an alert to the VAR operator within half a minute.
