HOW IS DATA STOLEN FROM PHARMING ATTACKS? WHAT TO DO TO AVOID?
Recently, various incidents of cyber attacks have been taking place. The style of
such attacks through various means is also changing. We've been hearing about phishing in general and, more recently, vishing attacks. However, another form of attack involves 'pharming' attacks.
How to find out if there is a Pharming Attack?
To find out pharming attack, you should pay attention to simple things. That is, if the website you are looking for shows http instead of https, if the website shows unnatural errors (such as spelling error, unfamiliar font or color), looks different from the real, and does not look like a legitimate site, then Pharming Attack may have happened.
How to prevent from Pharming Attack?
• Visit only secure website with https. For example: https://www.techno-page.com/
• Use Trusted and Safe Browser (like Chrome, Mozilla Firefox etc.).
• Don't visit suspicious websites.
• When navigating any website, let the website be fully loaded and check the URL of the website (eg: spelling error / swapping letters).
• Before making a transaction, identify whether the website is official or not.
• Change the default password on Consumer-grade Routers and Access Points (AP).
• Since most of the criminals (Pharmers) use enticing commercial fake sites showing cheap products or offer, only share your personal sensitive details on official commercial site and do online shopping only from official commercial site.
• Only use VPN service with Reputed DNS Servers for Secure Browsing.
• Do not click on the attachment and link of the email received from a stranger.
• Use Two Factor Authentication or Multi Factor Authentication.
• Use official and reputed Anti-virus / Anti-malware and Firewall software.
