TWO-STEP VERIFICATION REDUCES GOOGLE ACCOUNT HACKING BY 50 PERCENT

Three months ago today, Google made two-step verification mandatory for all its users. Earlier, this feature

being dependent on user's choice, it is now reported that the number of Google account hacks has decreased by 50 percent after making this feature mandatory for users.

On February 8, the day of 'Safer Internet Day', Google announced in a blog post some of the steps it has taken to keep users and user information safe through hackers. Google has provided 5 million to Khan Academy for secure content online. The academy currently has 18 million users worldwide. According to Google, the number of Google searches for "How to Stop Identity Theft" has doubled in 2021 compared to the previous year. Last October, the company introduced two-factor authentication to its 150 million user accounts.

Specially, Google had made arrangements for verification when logging into a Google account on a new device. The company claims that with this feature enabled, the incidence of hacking into Google accounts has decreased by 50 percent.

In addition, Google is working with a number of companies and organizations to secure the Internet through the 'Campaign Security Project'. It also said that it is preparing to launch a new feature on browser in upcoming month. Which will provide a separate 'mode' for personal and other users.
