Google Gemini Introduces ‘Personal Intelligence’ Feature for Personalized Responses Based on Your Data
Google has begun rolling out the ‘Personal Intelligence’ feature for its artificial intelligence, Gemini, on a global scale. In a formal announcement on Tuesday (April 14, 2026), Google stated that after its initial launch in the U.S., the feature is now being expanded to users in other countries.
However, for the time being, this service will not be available in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. This feature allows users to connect Gemini with their Google accounts—such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and other Workspace apps—as well as Google Photos, YouTube, Search, and Maps. By accessing text, images, and videos within these apps, Gemini will provide answers tailored to the user's specific needs and interests without requiring detailed explanations every time.
How Personal Intelligence Simplifies Daily Life
According to Google, Personal Intelligence will streamline many daily tasks. For example:
Shopping Suggestions: Gemini can suggest items based on your recent purchases, favorite brands, and style. If you recently bought new gold shoes, it might recommend a bag with matching gold hardware.
Troubleshooting: If you forget when you purchased a specific product or its model number, Gemini can find the receipt in your Gmail and provide precise troubleshooting steps for that device.
Travel Planning: During air travel, Gemini can track your landing and connecting flight times, calculate the distance between gates, and suggest where to eat at the airport based on your dietary preferences.
Tailored Recommendations: Instead of a generic "Top 10" list for a city like Thailand, it will recommend hidden gems and local cuisines based on your specific interests and past favorites.
Personalized Hobbies: It can even suggest new activities, such as poetry writing, that align with your known interests (like nature and reading).Privacy and Control
This feature is strictly 'Opt-in,' meaning it only activates if the user chooses to enable it. Users can select or change which apps Gemini can access at any time. Additionally, the feature can be turned off entirely via a new toggle in the 'Tools menu.'

Limitations of the AI
Google clarified that Gemini may not always understand the exact context of your data. It might occasionally draw connections between unrelated topics and may struggle to grasp subtle nuances or significant life changes, such as a divorce.
Example: If you have hundreds of photos of a golf course, Gemini might assume you love golf. In reality, you might only go there to support your son. In such cases, users can correct the AI by saying, "I don't actually like golf."
Availability
Currently, this feature is available to Google AI Premium, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. Free users are expected to receive the update within the coming weeks. The feature can be accessed via both the Gemini app and the web version.
How to Use It
To use Personal Intelligence in Gemini:
Open the Gemini mobile app or website and check if "Personal Intelligence" is available.
If the feature is active, click on it and navigate to 'Connected Apps.'
Choose which apps you want to grant Gemini access to—such as Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Keep, Tasks), Google Photos, Search, YouTube, YouTube Music, or GitHub.
Switch the toggle button to 'On' for your preferred apps to connect them.
Once completed, Gemini will utilize data from these connected apps to provide highly personalized responses.
