Instagram Comments Can Now Be Edited

Instagram users can now edit the comments they have posted. Meta has introduced this significant update to enhance the experience and convenience for Instagram users.

However, this feature will only be available within a 15-minute time limit after the comment is posted. This new system is similar to the editing feature Instagram launched for messages in 2024. Interestingly, while Direct Messaging (DM) started on Instagram in 2013, the option to edit messages was only added in 2024—11 years later.

How it Works

Users can only edit comments made from their own accounts, and the process is quite simple:

• Tap the word 'Edit' located below your comment.
• A text box will open where you can modify, add, or remove text.
• After making changes, tap the blue 'check mark' to save it.

According to Meta, users can edit their comments as many times as needed within that 15-minute window.

Context and Recent Updates

On Instagram, comments are no longer limited to posts; since 2024, they have appeared across various formats, including 'Stories.' Therefore, this editing option is expected to be highly useful for users. This new feature is part of a series of changes Meta has rolled out on Instagram over the past month.

Early March: Meta announced the removal of 'end-to-end encryption' from Instagram Direct Messages (DM).

Late March: Meta began testing a subscription service called 'Instagram Plus.' This paid service will offer exclusive and new features specifically for the app's Story feature.

Meta expects these recent updates to make the Instagram user experience more seamless and sophisticated.
